Hanover & District Hospital Foundation Launches Fundraising Campaign for Critical Fluoroscopy MachineHanover, ON – The Hanover & District Hospital Foundation (HDHF) is pleased to announce the launch of a fundraising campaign to support the purchase of a new fluoroscopy machine for the Hanover & District Hospital.
Fluoroscopy is a specialized imaging technique that offers dynamic, real-time X-ray visuals, allowing physicians to assess organ function, guide procedures with precision, and expedite critical medical decisions. From diagnosing digestive disorders to assisting in complex orthopedic evaluations, fluoroscopy plays a vital role in modern healthcare. Last year, over 30% of emergency visits at the hospital required fluoroscopy, underscoring its importance in delivering timely and effective patient care. “The addition of a new fluoroscopy machine will allow our medical team to provide faster, more accurate diagnoses while reducing the need for patient transfers,” said Laura McCullough, Manager of Diagnostic Imaging, Infection Control and Laboratory at HDH. “This investment will significantly improve patient outcomes and ensure our community continues to receive high-quality care close to home.” To help fund this vital equipment, HDHF is inviting the community to contribute through donations and participation in upcoming fundraising events. A key opportunity to support the campaign is the 2025 Enchanted Garden Gala, scheduled for May 31st at Ground Effects Landscaping Special Events Centre. This premier event will feature a gourmet dinner, music, as well as live and silent auction, with proceeds directly supporting the fluoroscopy machine initiative. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities for the gala are now available. To purchase tickets, become a sponsor, or make a direct donation to the campaign, please visit www.hdhf.ca/gala.html or contact HDHF at [email protected] The Hanover and District Hospital Foundation’s New Initiative
As 2022 wound down, the Hanover and District Hospital Foundation (HDHF) Christmas Campaign closed out the year with over $50,000 in donations. Executive Director Maya Torrie stated that this “truly is a testament to the ongoing generosity of our community.” Throughout the past year, through various fundraising campaigns and individual donations, the Foundation was able to raise $181,000 to help The Hanover and District Hospital (HDH) with the purchase and installation of their Laparoscopic Tower for the Operating room. Looking ahead, HDHF has decided to change direction and venture into a new fundraising campaign, one that is currently the most pressing for our hospital and for the health of our community. Beginning in January 2023, the Foundation will be raising funds to bolster and strengthen the hospital’s Emergency Room (ER) services. In particular, HDHF will be supporting the Physician Recruitment Initiative. Like every hospital around this area, HDH is experiencing an unprecedented increase to it’s Emergency Room services. While many hospitals have had to close their ER departments at various times, Hanover & District Hospital has managed to continue to operate without any disruption. HDH has one of the most active 24/7 ER Departments in the area and it only continues to get even busier. Without Emergency Room Doctors, this is not sustainable. Mark Rogan, HDHF Board Member and head of Recruitment says, “It is imperative that we support the recruitment of new physicians to our area, or we risk seeing a direct impact to our Emergency Room services. Throughout the last several years, this community has stepped forward time and time again to help our hospital. Our Emergency Room situation is critical. We need your help now more than ever before.”
The Hanover and District Hospital celebrated one hundred years of providing top level health care to our community with a centennial Soiree Gala on May 27th, 2023, hosted by the HDH Foundation. This year’s Hospital Foundation Gala raised a record breaking $117,000! HDH Foundation is extremely grateful and would like to thank all those who attended and all the local businesses who supported this event.
Maya Torrie, HDHF Executive Director stated, “I am overwhelmed by the generosity of our community. I want to personally thank all our amazing sponsors and volunteers who helped make this event an incredible success. Thank you for supporting rural healthcare and we look forward to partnering with you through the rest of 2023.” All proceeds raised from the gala will go towards the Physician recruitment program. As HDH experiences even higher patient volumes in the Emergency Department HDHF recognizes the critical need for more doctors to meet these challenges. The Foundation would like to offer a special thank our Platinum sponsors Henry and Barb Lansink, Exceldor, and the Hanover Auto Dealers Association. The Laparoscopic Tower Has Arrived at HDH.
The Hanover and District Hospital Foundation (HDHF) is happy to announce the arrival of the new Stryker 1688 Laparoscopic Tower. In early 2022 it was decided that the greatest equipment need for the hospital at that time was to purchase this important upgrade for the surgical unit. With the help of our generous donors, we were able to raise $181,000 for this campaign. Executive Director Maya Torrie says, “Whether it was attending events, personal donations, or sponsorships, thank you to everyone who contributed to this project.” Recently, the Foundation has put its efforts towards improving our Emergency Room services focusing on physician recruitment. If you would like to donate towards this initiative please visit our website, www.hdhf.ca or contact the Foundation office at 519-364-2340 ext 203. Additionally, our gala is fast approaching and is set for May 27th, 2023. Tickets and sponsorship information is also available through the website or Foundation office. Hanover, ON – On January 9th, the HDH Foundation was proud to present a cheque to the Hanover & District Hospital in the amount of $106,555 which will help with the purchase of two new defibrillators for our Emergency Room Department and two transport defibrillators that are required when transporting critically ill patients to tertiary centers. These funds were raised through our Radiothon fundraiser and by various grant submissions.
Beyond this initiative, the HDH Foundation also raised $270,445 to support Physician Recruitment and help to ensure that our hospitals ER Department can continue to provide 24-hour, 7 day service to our community. Executive Director, Maya Torrie stated, “Our Foundation Board of Directors and I wish to personally thank each member of our community who has donated, sponsored, or volunteered their time in 2023. Your ongoing support and partnership with our HDH Foundation and your generosity has made a significant impact. We look forward to 2024 and all that can be accomplished together" |
